Asbestos Level 1 and 2 Training and Certification
As of January 1, 2024, anyone handling, transporting or disposing of asbestos is mandated to be WorkSafeBC approved and certified.
Although online courses are convenient, the pass rate for studying asbestos online is only about 20% whereas if you get trained in person with a qualified instructor, about 90% of applicants pass the exam.
Furthermore, finding approved exam providers in BC can be challenging. Keefer HSE offers both training and exam services right here in the Kootenays, so that local asbestos workers don’t need to travel far to get certified.

Level 1
Cost: $150
Duration: 4 hours
Location: In-office or on-site (mobile training)
This certificate ensures a foundational awareness of asbestos hazards and protection measures, for workers that come into contact with asbestos. In addition to our in-office program, we also offer mobile training where we come to your business to conduct the Level 1 training. Level 1 asbestos training is a prerequisite for all other asbestos certificates.
Level 2
Cost: $1,000
Duration: 3 days
Location: In-office
This certificate is for asbestos abatement workers. Proof of Level 1 completion is required. Level 2 contains a practical component in which the trainee is required to build an actual containment.
